I want to be an administrator for a friend's blog, but keep it separate from mine.
-
I’m trying to be an administrator/editor for a friend’s blog (https://idlemusingsofaninsomniac.wordpress.com/). The post keeps coming up as mine, even though it’s his blog. How can i get it separated from my blog profile? I’d like to have my email address for his blog so I can correct/add, etc.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
I believe the information you’re looking for can be found here:
-
https://idlemusingsofaninsomniac.wordpress.com/ This is the blog I need help with. I am set as Editor. But the profile is not of Paul Howle, but of me. How do I get it to reflect that it is HIS blog, not mine?
-
I’m seeing his information in the About tab as well as his name on the posts. Are you referring to the widget (sidebar) where your gravatar picture is showing?
-
Okay… I just went to my profile to try and create what I was seeing on Mr. Howle’s. It looks like it’s possible that you have the Gravatar or Gravatar Profile Widget linking your Gravatar to his profile.
Have a look through the widgets and see if either of those are there and showing you as linked. Let me know how it goes and I’ll do my best to continue helping if that doesn’t resolve the issue.
-
It says I do not have permission to make any customization. I guess I should have made myself administrator instead of editor when I set it up. Any other suggestions?
-
He sent me a new post and when I previewed the draft, it said it was posted by me, not him.
-
-
Hmmm…if you don’t have access to make changes, then I believe Mr. Howle would have to provide access for you to assist him, or need to make those changes himself.
Since I am not all that familiar with the ins and outs just yet, I’m at a loss, my dear.
I’m going to tag the post with the modlook tag so that someone from Staff can take a look. Just be patient while waiting for one of them to get back with you.
I’m sorry I wasn’t able to help you any further.

Hi Irene, and thank you Mariah for your help here.
Irene, when you create the post as an editor, you will show up as the author. That can be corrected, though. At the top, where it says “By Irene” , click and select this other user.
If you don’t get that option when you click, you may not have sufficient permissions yet and will need to ask the site owner to increase them for you.
I hope that helps!

Thank you for this suggestion, but it couldn’t be done. My friend is a complete computer illiterate and can’t do it either. I think I’m going to have to create a whole new blog for him.
-
Hey,
Im trying to help you. First of all your photos is shown on the blog because you are an author on this blog.
If you want to get more privilege tell the Administrator(Paul) to follow the steps below:
Step-1: Log in and Go to Dashboard.
Step-2: From the left side bar menu, go to Users and Click All Users.
Step-3: Here he can see all the users including your name. Check the box on your name.
Step-4: Now at the top of user list you will find a drop down menu “Change Role to…” Click the dropdown and select Editor or Administrator.
Step-5: Click on Change.
All Done! If you becomes an Administrator then nothing is your limits! :)
But this steps can do your friend (Paul) because he is an Administrator. You cannot do this as an Author. Tell his this steps and you can do all the things like he do
-
Thanks everyone. I wasn’t quite sure what else she could do in this situation.
@supernovia, most welcome. ;)
I hope you’re able to get it sorted out, Irene.
-
Thanks everyone, for your help and suggestions. Paul’s trying his best to understand what he needs to do. Unfortunately, we don’t live in the same state and we need to wait for someone to decipher for him, what he needs to do. ;)

Hi @irenecorl4u2013 , here’s a direct link to the page where he can change your permissions:
https://wordpress.com/people/edit/irenecorl4u2013/idlemusingsofaninsomniac.wordpress.com
I generally encourage folks to be careful about giving admin privilege to anyone, but if he’d like you to fulfil admin responsibilities, you will need them. I hope that helps.
-
@Mariah and @dashingdidu, that direct link may help others with similar issues. Just the username and site name changes.
Or folks can navigate by going to WordPress.com/people , clicking on a site, then clicking on the user to modify. Cheers :)

Thank you everyone! I finally figured out his log in info — he couldn’t remember. Once in I was able to follow all your advice and get it all corrected. Now I am just waiting to see if he can log in on his own.
