I want to bring my existing WordPress site here
-
Dear Customer Service!
– The reason I want to be here is because my site is very slow on my own server, and I don’t have an IT person to fix it, and I don’t know how to do it anymore.
– Can I tell you that I don’t have to deal with such things with you, I don’t have to worry about viruses or other errors?
– I am wondering if it is possible that after I have transferred all my content to the wordpress.com page, we can also transfer the domain name afterwards? I can’t delete the existing page before, right?
– Is there an easy way to transfer the current site: bosziplaza.hu to the interface of worpress.com?
Thank you for answering my questions so that I can pay for your service with peace of mind.
All the best!

Hello Zsuzsanna,
Many thanks for reaching out and I’m happy to help with this.
– I am wondering if it is possible that after I have transferred all my content to the wordpress.com page, we can also transfer the domain name afterwards? I can’t delete the existing page before, right?
– Is there an easy way to transfer the current site: bosziplaza.hu to the interface of worpress.com?It’s totally possible to move the site as is, as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-an-entire-wordpress-site/. To note, to do this, you would need to have a business plan with WordPress.com.
Once transferred, then it is possible to connect the domain, to the site at WordPress.com, as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
Also, something worth mentioning is that the current site is using self-hosted WordPress, which is slightly different to WordPress.com, and the differences between the two can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
– The reason I want to be here is because my site is very slow on my own server, and I don’t have an IT person to fix it, and I don’t know how to do it anymore.
– Can I tell you that I don’t have to deal with such things with you, I don’t have to worry about viruses or other errors? With regards to site speed, and how we help with keeping things fast please see: https://wordpress.com/support/site-speed/
You wouldn’t need to worry too much about viruses as we take security very seriously. Please see these chapters here regarding security here: https://wordpress.com/support/?s=security
That said, a reason why a site may be slow, may be down to the themes and plugins installed on the site. While it’s possible to install themes and plugins onto WordPress.com, if the performance is still the same after a transfer, you may have to reach out to the theme and plugin developers for assistance, as we wouldn’t be able to support those elements.
With that in mind, this may be an opportunity to streamline things – would you be willing to tell me more about the goals for the website, and what you would class as essential features? We may be able to offer guidance on necessary plugins, and suggest suitable themes.
I’d also like to share information on this service also: https://builtbywp.com/ which may be of interest.
Looking forward to hearing more!

Dear aleone89! Thank you for your answer.
This website of mine is old, built since 2004, many people know it. It has a lot of blog content that you can read. I myself predict and help lovers, which I advertise in the Services menu item. The webshop offers only a few remaining products from my previous offline store.
This reminds me that I also have some online products that are in my current storage space in the library. Is it possible, for example, to store pdf materials here somehow? For example, you can subscribe to an e-book for free on the main page…
Thank you in advance if you recommend a template that I can use to build a similarly good-looking site. Because speed would really be important and responsiveness, because 85% of my readers view the site from a mobile phone.
Thank you and all the best!

Hello Zsuzsanna,
Many thanks for that additional information! Please do excuse the wait, the WordPress.com forums are currently not monitored in realtime, and are manned by staff as well as volunteers.
This website of mine is old, built since 2004, many people know it. It has a lot of blog content that you can read.
Got it, so content alone can be exported via Tools > Export, and the imported over to WordPress.com via Tools > Import. (https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/)
The webshop offers only a few remaining products from my previous offline store.
Ok so to check, are you looking to continue this online store at WordPress.com?
Is it possible, for example, to store pdf materials here somehow? For example, you can subscribe to an e-book for free on the main page…
That is totally possible to do. Outside a business plan, it’s possible to do this via a premium content block: https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/premium-content-block/
On the business plan, you would most likely need a membership style plugin to lock that content down behind a sign up form, plugins like those you see here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/membership/
Thank you in advance if you recommend a template that I can use to build a similarly good-looking site.
The current site uses a theme called Avada, which is a well known theme and the functionality is quite expansive.
With that in mind, I’d recommend a block based theme like those seen here: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/block-editor-styles/bosziplaza.wordpress.com
These themes perhaps might be of interest:
