  I already have a domain, but I want to build a website prior to hooking up the domain so there’s no 404 error, can I do that?

  Happy to help you with this.

  That’s totally possible – when you build the site at WordPress.com, this can be built on a temporary domain (i.e. example.WordPress.com).

  When you’re ready you can then transfer the domain or map the domain to WordPress.com.
