I want to cancel my domain

  Hey, the help says that I should contact support to cancel my domain. I don’t have an option to cancel it in my subscription settings. I’m cancelling the domain as i’m leaving WordPress.com and moving to WordPress.org and will be self-hosting my site.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I can absolutely help you with that.

  Just to clarify, if you want to cancel your domain meepinganime.com it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and it may not choose to do so. We can’t guarantee that your domain will ever be available to you again once canceled. If you have any intention of using meepinganime.com again in the future, I suggest that you do not choose to cancel and instead point your domain to your new webhost using these instructions:

  Change a Domain’s Name Servers

  Please confirm that you understand and want to cancel your domain. Once you have done so, I will cancel it and remove the upgrade from your account.

  That doesn’t sound what i’m looking like…

  Basically, it’ll renew itself at the start of June, and I won’t have the finances available to renew it until late July, so I was going to cancel the subscription for now and strike a new domain up later on a new host.

  What do you think the best course of action would be?

  So it looks like it doesn’t actually expire until the beginning of July (we auto renew domains 30 days prior to expiration to make sure there are no problems that would cause someone to lose a domain).

  However, waiting until the end of July to renew will probably put you out of the “grace” period and into the “redemption” period for renewal, which adds on an $80 late fee. You can read about the domain expiration process here:

  You could just take the chance that the domain would make it all the way through the expiration process and you could re-register it at the end of August (that’s just an estimate). But it is a risk. There’s always the possibility that someone else will snap it up.
