I want to cancel my domain which is now overdue.
-
HI, I want to cancel my domain that I registered with you. The renewal date is overdue. I did not realise I had to actual cancel it, I assumed it would cancel automatically if I did not renew it. I have tried to cancel it via the blogsite itself but it didn’t seem to work. The domain is rocklyricsquotes.com.

Hello,
I can absolutely help you with that.
Just to clarify, if you want to cancel your domai rocklyricsquotes.com it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and it may not choose to do so. We can’t guarantee that your domain will ever be available to you again once canceled. If you have any intention of using rocklyricsquotes.com again in the future, I suggest that you do not choose to cancel.
Please confirm that you understand and want to cancel your domain. Once you have done so, I will cancel it and remove the upgrade from your account.
Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Fair enough that you want to make sure, I guess, but I DID say I want to CANCEL my domain. That is the reason why I did not renew it even though I was sent emails for weeks before it was due telling me it was due. I naively believed that if I did not want to renew my domain name then all I had to do was not renew it. Foolish me. Now I cannot access my blog as the site is blocked by this notice which tells me I hadn’t renewed my domain. It seems at this stage the only way I can access my site is by paying that over exorbitant overdue fee of $80. (What is the justification for that fee? apart from a money making scheme.)
And yet I still, supposedly have the free domain wordpress gave me, and yet I cannot access my site. So, I have not renewed my domain and yet cannot access my site. Extremely irritating and unjust, I feel.

I intended no frustration. But given the nightmare that losing a domain accidentally or by confusion can cause people and businesses, we don’t take a cancellation request lightly and make sure that we confirm that people know just what they are asking when they make that request.
I have canceled the domain and removed it from your account. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Now I’ve had my little rant, I will just explain that I attempted to ‘cancel the domain’ when I tried to access my blog. It gave me the option to renew the domain or ‘cancel this domain’. I clicked on ‘cancel this domain’ and it went to another page and had a check box I had to check, agreeing that I understood what ‘cancelling a domain’ actually means. I checked it.
Then a pop up popped up saying I hadn’t checked the check box. Well, I had. But I went back and attempted to check it again, even harder, but no, no amount of checking the check box would get through to the little wordpress android, who kept sitting their scratching his head, as if I didn’t quite understand what he was on about. I was caught in a loop.
I’ve tried this on two different days (today being one of them) and there is no change.
I just wanna go back to my old wordpress domain for my blog, please. I like wordpress, I do, and have recommended it to my friends, but this is getting very frustrating (in case you hadn’t picked up on that yet [grin])

Oh, so you have (cancelled the domain), Ijust went and checked. oh, thank you so much.
I wasn’t so much frustrated over the making sure I do want to cancel, but the inability to access my account and the far way over priced overdue fee. But I realise that those things most probably have nothing to do with you.
I had received an email earlier saying I had got some help from you and how was it? I replied I had not got any email from you, which I hadn’t. I had to find you via googling my help request.
Anyway, thank you now for your help.

Hi,
I’m sorry for the hassle, but I’m glad we got it sorted out.
Regarding not getting any notifications, it might be worth checking to make sure that both of your notification email addresses are set correctly:
