  @peacefulgala – You might want to check out Blogging U – You can sign up for free classes & they will help you design your blog. There’s a 30-day class called “Blogging 101”. Might be just what you’re looking for. Friendly fellow new bloggers and fantastic volunteer hosts.

  The best advice is: don’t spend any money for the first month unless you’re already competent with all of the functions including theme changes and know exactly what you’re getting for the money. In a month you’ll have learned a great deal more about the system. The only upgrade I recommend off the bat is the Custom Domain, and you can always take that to a different blog if you want.
