I want to change a page in my website created with WordPress

Hi, I have a website created with WordPress. The developer of the website is not involved in creating and developing websites and I need a specific page on my site removed. What should I do? I do have the admin page but can’t see pages where I should be able to remove and add a page. Urgent response required.

  • What is the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

  • Hi there,

That site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, so we have no access to or control over it, and aren’t able to help you with this.

To delete pages on a site, you need to be logged in as a user with either admin or editor permissions. If your user account doesn’t have those permissions, only an admin on the site can grant you that permission.

If you have access to the hosting account for the site, you can also change this directly in the site’s database, but if your developer controls the hosting account, then your only option is to go through them.

Support for your version of WordPress is provided by the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, but they also don’t have control over either your site or your hosting account, so the most they’ll be able to do in this case is provide advice, and their advice will likely be the same as what I’ve said here.

The problem is the developer vanished… I can’t reach him. In such instances, what would be the solution. How can I claim the site as a developer? I can access the admin but the areas that allow me to change are limited to dates, text and some of the media. Nothing else.

  • We can’t really advise here; it’s best if you ask at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ or reach out directly to your host.
