I want to Change Blog URL.
-
I mistakenly used my domain name for godaddy instant page (they said it was just a temporary way to “hold” the domain name.) Not so! Anyway, I have cancelled the instant page and assigned a new IP address according to their instructions and saved a new zone file according to their instructions. But I see the primary blog name at wordpress is still — jamescox.wordpress.com I want it to be — roguework.us.wordpress.com
When I first set up my blog with wordpress a prompt said the primary name could be changed.
Please send step-by-step instructions on what to do to correct this problem.
Thanks — James

You cannot setup subdomains such as roguework.us.wordpress.com. Did you mean you want to setup roguework.us ?

I bought a domain name — roguework.us … I would like that to be what people type into their address bar to get to my site

Here are the steps to map a domain name you already own to a WordPress.com blog:
1. Update the name servers to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, and NS3.WORDPRESS.COM through the registrar where you purchased the domain.
2. Wait for the name server update to propagate (usually takes a few hours).
3. Add the domain to the form at the top of the Upgrades -> Domains page in your WordPress.com blog.
4. Click the “Add domain to blog” button.
5. Follow the prompts to purchase the domain mapping upgrade. These steps are also posted in this help page if you need to refer back to it: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Okay, I’ve done this and will wait for DNS update to propogate (They say it may take an hour or possibly up to 48 hrs).
