I want to change default preferences in the block editor
-
In the top right corner menu when you are in the page editor, you can change the preferences. I want to change some of these default preferences eg. I want to have “distraction free mode” turned on default.
I need to change this as I will have multiple authors and some of them have very little experience with programming and web development so I want to simplify their experience as much as possible.

Unless I am missing something as well I do not think there is a way to make the setting a default . It seems to only support a custom preference per session and once you log out they reverts back to the WordPress.com default. I will still tag the moderators here maybe they have better insight, on this.

Thanks @codinggigi – @frenzieddeath I can confirm there’s no “default” option for the new distraction-free mode for the block editor, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a plugin along those lines soon.

For now, depending on your processes, have you considered using Post by Email? They can send a post’s content and images. If you set it so they have to be reviewed before publishing, someone can quickly add any needed formatting and publish.
Post by Email is a way of publishing posts on your blog by email. Any email client can be used to send the email, allowing you to publish quickly and easily from devices such as cell phones. Please note you can only publish to one blog using one e-mail message at a time. Generating a Post by Email Address Before you can publish by email, you must generate a special email address. This adIf you choose that option, I’d just be sure to remind folks to not use that secret email address anywhere else (like when CCing in an email chain.)
