I want to combine two of my sites that are under my wordpress blog and keep all followers
-
I have a wordpress.com blog account with seven different sites created through this one account. I want to combine two of the sites I created and have the followers transfer over as well. I am overwhelmed by the process. Is there not assistance for this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @tsoutreach, we can help you through.
Can you send a link to the site that you are trying to merge, as well as a link to the one you’re merging into?
-
Thank you so much. First of all I’m not sure if I’m clear on what a blog is versus what a site is. I have my account and then all of these sites or blogs under my account. When I log into my account it says my sites and then lists them all (as I did with some of them below). I tried doing what the directions stated to transfer or merge and it was not doing anything. Hard to explain. Since then I’ve thought it all over and would actually like to combine several into one.
I want to combine these sites- https://thuysmithlivingonpurpose.wordpress.com/ https://mynewlifesimplified.wordpress.com/
https://worldwiderecoveryadvocacy.wordpress.com/
https://eyeonperspectives.wordpress.comI want to have all my likes, shares, content, and followers transferred over from all of my sites listed above into my site- tsoutreach.wordpress.com.
Could you please help me?
Thank you- Thuy Smith @ (email visible only to moderators and staff) -
I want to have all my likes, shares, content, and followers transferred over from all of my sites listed above into my site- tsoutreach.wordpress.com.
This isn’t all possible.
I can help transfer content of those sites to a single site, and I can help transfer WordPress.com likes, WordPress.com followers, and WordPress.com stats. This is what we would normally consider a “merge” of sites. (Also, to clarify, blogs are a type of site. I’m calling them all sites for simplicity.)
I can’t transfer social shares though, because “merging” the sites in this way will change the addresses for the posts you’ve shared already. Facebook counts how many times you’ve shared a post at a particular address, and if that address changes (to the one site you’re merging everything into), you’re out of luck.
But perhaps we can figure out another way to accomplish what you’re after.
What are you hoping to achieve by merging the sites?
-
Hello,
That is fine if the shares can not be transferred. I understand and I’m ok with that as long as everything else can be- followers, stats, content, and wordpress likes.
I want to merge the sites for a couple of reasons. I want to have it under my one site address-https://tsoutreach.wordpress.com/ (simpler and cleaner) and the posts from the sites I want merged could all have their different categories within this site rather than trying to keep up posts for so many different sites. The type of posts from each current site I want merged would fit together nicely under this new merged site.
Whereas I want to keep my other two sites- tsworldoutreach.wordpress.com and commonbondveteranscircle.wordpress.com as they are now. I do not want them merged at all. Simply kept as they are.
Thank you so much for your help!

Okay. Here’s what we’ll do then. I’ve broken this into numbered steps, so if you get stuck, you can let us know what step you’re on.
1: You’ll need to get exports for each site. These are available under My Sites > Settings > Export, or here are the direct links:
https://wordpress.com/settings/export/thuysmithlivingonpurpose.wordpress.com/
https://wordpress.com/settings/export/mynewlifesimplified.wordpress.com/
https://wordpress.com/settings/export/worldwiderecoveryadvocacy.wordpress.com/
https://wordpress.com/settings/export/eyeonperspectives.wordpress.com
2: Once you have each file, head to this link:
https://wordpress.com/settings/import/tsoutreach.wordpress.com
You’ll want to import the file from one site, then check two things:
2a. Did the posts all come through?
2b. If you go to https://wordpress.com/media/tsoutreach.wordpress.com are the images from the other site there?
If everything looks good, continue on to import the next site.
3: notify us here when steps one and two are done. We’ll spot check again for you to be sure everything looks correct, then we can work on transferring the stats and followers for you.

I’ve exported them all and now I’m waiting for the first import to complete. I went to the new site where the other sites will be transferred over to and it looks like everything from my first import transferred over, but when I go back to the page where I started the import, it says its waiting on 13 resources to import. It’s almost at the end, but it has stayed in this position for awhile. So I’m assuming I just need to wait it out. It appears I can’t import the next one until the first one is done anyway.
I’ll continue and will let you know when its all done and everything looks like it transferred completely so then we can move on to next step.
Thank you so much!!!!!

When I try to import my other files that I exported- My New Life Simplified, Worldwiderecovery, and eyes on perspectives, it won’t allow me to do it.
Instead it says this- This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number. Try another file or contact support.
However, the first one- living on purpose did transfer.
Please help.
Thanks!

Is it a .zip file? If so, you may need to unzip it first and upload the files separately.
-
I didn’t do that with the first transfer (unzip). I simply clicked start import, clicked the zipfolder for living on purpose, and it did it. So why wouldn’t it do the same with the other zip folders? How do you unzip it? I’ve tried to figure this out, but sorry cannot. Sigh…..

well got another one through…don’t ask me how-lol! Ok, two to go. We will see how that goes. Thanks so much for your help and patience. I’ll get back to you once I finally get them all transferred.
Thanks again!

On most systems you can double click to unzip.
It will zip up the export file for larger sites because you’ll need more than one export file.

So My New Life simplified acted as if it went through, butthen this is how it shows up on the new site.

Geeze….. ok looks like I forgot a step. my god you deserve an award for the most patience! Thank you.

OK, I finished. Everything is over there. I decided not to merge Eyes on Perspective site, but all of the other ones I listed earlier is transferred. All I need now is for all the other information to be transferred from your end.
Thank You!!

@tsoutreach can you check the site and see if your posts and media came through properly? I see a bunch of .txt files like you mentioned — normally these would upload in a .xml format so I’m a bit worried. I can see you trashed some things too so I’m not sure what all should be here.
If you’ll confirm it’s all there, I’ll proceed.

Hello, yes, I did delete and edit some posts. I apologize if I should have probably waited. Also, there are some posts that I didn’t delete that that have the youtube video missing. I need to add in the new youtube URLS for those missing clips. Otherwise it looks like everything I was able to do on my end is good.
Thanks so much again!

I haven’t added new youtube links and won’t until later so you don’t have to worry if you see missing youtube video. Everything else looked like it transferred over from posts, pages, images, comments, and tags, to categories I had set, etc. So I’m good on my end for you to proceed.
Thanks!
