    Hi there!

To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

Since your current site is with Bluehost, you need to transfer your site from them to WordPress.com by following our Import from Self-Hosted WordPress guide.

You see your current WordPress site in your WordPress.com dashboard because you had connected your site to your WordPress.com account using the Jetpack plugin. However, this connection only allows you to manage some aspects of your site from that dashboard and does not serve as a backup for your site. If the origin site is deleted or disconnected, we also clear that content from your dashboard since the connection would no longer exist.

Therefore you need to import your site here before canceling your Bluehost hosting, otherwise, you will lose your site content as it is currently.

I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you have any other questions.
