I want to delete my account, but I’m not allowed, so I changed the email address. But, wordpress.com still recognizes my original email address. I want my address removed from WordPress.com

You were asked only for an email address to create a username account. Many of us choose to have separate email addresses for our blogs rather than using our primary personal email addresses.

You provided any other information voluntarily and you can remove it and also replace the email address with a throw away email address at any time.

Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting a blog or blog content does not remove any indexed content from appearing in the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.

I changed the email address with the account. Why is it when I use my original email address on a wordpress site, it detects that address is connected to the account?
I do not want my original email address associated with any wordpress account.
    I’m begging you.

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com. Have you entered two different email addresses at these locations (see below) or have you entered the same one at both locations?

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Both of them have the throw away email address I created.

And, when I try to use my original address, the one I removed, it says that it’s associated with this account.

I can even sign in with either email address and the same password.

You probably have the old email address still connected to your Gravatar account: https://en.gravatar.com/

I never set up a gravatar account, but when I click on it, it shows the fake email address in the upper portion, and it shows no email address in the contact information.

How many more things are there for me to look at?
I changed every email address I was supposed to in order to detach my original address from this account.

Do you see it listed at https://en.gravatar.com/emails/ ?

There it is. It was not showing when I went through the interface.
    Thank You.

It seems to me that a lot of people complain about your “unclosable account” policy. I have had nothing but problems with it, and I think your regular suggestion of “create a fake email address” just makes wordpress.com a recepticle for bad data.

You might want to reconsider your stance.

Since we don’t want other people to have your username in the future, we don’t delete usernames (they are kept so they cannot be recycled). For more information, please see

That’s funny, because I changed the username to a fake one when I changed the email to a fake one. Oh, well
