    Hi @christinehovhan,

    It looks like you were previously on a Business plan. In order to downgrade your site to a free plan so that it may be deleted, we must revert it back to the point when you installed your first plugin or custom theme.

    Your site’s content (posts, pages, media files, categories, tags, projects/portfolios), theme, and customizations, such as widgets and menus, will return to the state they were in on this date. This process will also remove all plugins and custom themes, as well as any content added through them, and you will no longer be able to add plugins or custom themes to this site unless you upgrade again in the future.

    The site will be set into private mode during the downgrade process. You will be able to set the site to a public or coming soon mode later. Normally, the downgrade process should not take more than 15-30 minutes, but for sites with a lot of content, it may take several hours.

    Please let us know if you would like to proceed with this process. If you would like to make a backup beforehand, you can do so by going to Jetpack → Backup.

    /waves staff-sheva Just a quick question about backup.

    Since the jetpack backup would then only be available to import on a site on the Business or eCommerce plan, would it be possible to export the site content as per this support guide? https://wordpress.com/support/export/

    @justjennifer, they can also manually restore that backup to a WordPress.org site.

    You make a good point though — exporting is another option, though since the site will be deleted they would need to also download their media library and manually re-link images, should they choose to go down the WordPress.org path.

    The Jetpack backup may be more convenient in this case, though both are good options to consider.
