I want to disable email updates for followers

  The email updates that go out to email followers are not formatted like I want. I cannot find any way to customize that format so I would like to simply not update anyone via email on blog posts (I will manually send emails to my very few followers).

  Any help is appreciated, this is very frustrating.

  Hi,
  Unfortunately you can’t stop email updates to followers on a fully hosted WordPress.com site. See the relevant forum topic Can I turn off the automatic email sent to blog followers when I do a new post?

  Thanks for the response.

  FWIW… this is a really bad outcome. Essentially a hosted site then cannot control outbound messaging.

  Any way to get this feedback to WordPress directly?

  Hi there,

  Your site’s followers are in full control of how they receive updates about your posts, whether through the WordPress.com Reader or via email. However, you can change your site’s Reading Settings to control how much of your posts are sent out to your followers.

  Next to the For each article in a feed setting, you can choose “Summary” to limit the amount of each post that is emailed to your followers. That way, your followers will have to click through to read the full post on your blog.
