I want to duplicate delgadodolphin.net to the new blog

    I am a journalism student at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana. I was named the Managing Editor of the student newspaper, The Dolphin, on May 1, 2017. On that same day, the professors overseeing the journalism, mass comm, and TV production programs were all fired without notice, leaving all of us students hanging.

    I broke the news story and have had many other news stories concerning this debacle which have been posted on our existing site, DelgadoDolphin.net which directs to a WordPress site.

    There have been threats made from the admin level of the college that they might shut down the student newspaper website so I want to create a duplicate of the existing site under a new domain name that I and other students will control. I have already set up the new domain, delgadofreedolphin.org and have set it up to re-direct to a new WP account, delgadofreedolphin.wordpress.com.

    I just need a lot of help getting the duplication and set up done.

    This process only transfers your content; it does not include any plugins that may have been installed.

    Hi and thanks for the reply. I never had anything to do with setting up the original site, theme, plugins, formatting, etc. Any idea on how to make the new site look exactly like the old site? Also, I want to make sure that the old site stays up and running and whenever I post new content, I’ll post it to both sites to keep them identical, for the most part. I just need to get the new site up and running in case the admin of the college decide to take it down, although I don’t think they will as that will bring on a wrath of complaints and reports from the main stream media.

    Hi,

    It looks like you have two alternatives:

    1. You have to purchase the Business plan upgrade which is the only WordPress.com plan that allows you to install third-party plugins and themes.
    2. Create your own self-hosted WordPress site. You can clone the site and restore it on your new self-hosted site.
