I want to duplicate my menu options/categories

  • Unknown's avatar

On my blog I will be writing about vegan food and then budget travel. So for each country/city i’ve visited, I wish to have seperate navigations for on my main menu.

    Example

Food > America > NYC and Travel > America > NYC

However, it seems I cannot have duplicate ‘categories’ and therefore can’t seem to have these two seperate menu optons. any ideas?

  • Sounds like fun, @twoveegs ! When you’ve got it set up, I’d love to follow. Always looking for great plant-based eats when I’m traveling.

Have you thought about using a combination of tags and categories? For example, let’s say you have food and travel as categories. And then you have tags like NYC.

You can then make a page with the blog posts block, with these settings, to show NYC-tagged items that exclude the food category.

And let’s say I was visiting NYC and wanted to see things to do AND things to eat. I could just look at the NYC tag. And of course, you can add any combination of pages and tags/categories to you custom menu as you’d like.

Does that help? If you have any questions about getting started with WordPress.com, or if you just want to talk through what you’re working on, let us know. We’re here to help. And we’ve got several tutorials here if you want to look for ideas.
