I WANT TO GET BACK TO USING CLASSIC EDITOR
-
Hello. I was starting to post something and WordPress changed the formatting. It’s all block – which I’m not familiar with. Can I please still use the Classic Editor for my site? I have been copy/pasting this but now it doesn’t seem to work:

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Same problem here at quodscripsi.com
I refuse to use the block editor. Please let me know if this is a permanent change and if so, I will downgrade the blog to the free option or delete it. I upgraded ONLY because it was the only way to continue using the CLASSIC EDITOR.
I am not happy with this.

More and more people are coming here to post about this as the day has gone on. And other than one person in the other, longer thread who managed to get a reply from an actual WP person, not a peep from the Powers That Be.
Even if this is a bug rather than a permanent change (which we still don’t know, either way), this doesn’t bode well for the future. A few hours ago I began the process of moving my site to another host. For the next 3 years it will cost me the same there as I have been paying here, although I will need to buy my Premium Theme again in order to use it anywhere else but here. (Did not know that when I bought it in 2021.)
But at least after my site is moved, it will use WordPress.org and I will be able to install the Classic Editor plugin. Which we cannot do here unless we have a Business account or better. :-/

CYBIS could you please direct me to your new host? I am out of here no matter what they do.

After spending a couple of hours researching the various hosts, I decided on (writing it like this in case we’re not allowed to recommend things publicly here) the one with the first part of the name being Chemi and the second part being the name of those white puffy things we see in the sky. ;-) written as a single word.

Got it, CYBIS. Yours are the kindest words I read all day. BIG THANK YOU!
Looks like there is some stupid nerd war between WordPress.org and WordPress.com. but in my case I paid good money to have that editor and now they are moving it one notch up. BAIT AND SWITCH. This is going to end up in a big class action suit, I bet you.
I’m out of here. This is not going to end well for any of them.

At the very least, if WordPress changes anything, they should let us know beforehand. We’re paying customers. If I cannot get back to “CLASSIC EDITOR” which I’ve been using for years and am used to, then I will also look at switching hosts. I hope they let us choose. This, just after paying for another year on top of it all. Otherwise, I’m happy with WordPress. They’re supposed to get someone like a “happiness engineer” to help us out. So far, nothing. @ girlwhowouldbeking.com

UPDATE: THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. We can now get back to using classic editor. Thank you to whomever fixed the problem.

I don’t care if they fixed the problem. They did fix it because there was a massive exodus last night. There was also an uproar of planetary proportions. I had two year paid for but I went back to the free version in protest. I will migrate shortly and I hope many people do the same. They will do it again if we stay. They have been robbing us long enough.
