I want to have 2 SEPARATE accounts

    Hello everyone!

I have one blog that I started a little while ago. Now I am starting a new blog that is completely different and separate from the other blog. But I’m finding now that stuff I put on my original blog (such as blogs I follow) are showing up on the new blog.

I don’t necessarily want to delete the 1st blog but I don’t want stuff showing up on the new blog that does not pertain to that blog.

Is there anyway that I can separate the 2? Can I have two separate accounts and if so how can I do that?

I have already started the new blog and if I understand correctly you cannot delete a blog so now that name will already be in use if I try to start a new account with the same name.

Thanks so much for everyone’s anticipated help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we register a username account here the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier. When we are logged into WordPress.com and register a blog it’s registered to that username account we are logged in under and to the email address which is our unique identifier. We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are using the same username account then all the blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account. We can change our “display name” but that display name will appear on all blogs registered under the same username account.

In order to completely separate the blogs that you do not want to be associated with each other you register another username account using a different email address when you are logged out of WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ Then you add the new username account as an official user of the blog, and designate them (ie. you) as an Admin. Next you transfer one of the blogs to the new username account using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

    Thank you for your help.

I did what you said above – I registered another username account using a different email address.

I then added the new username account as an official user of the blog and then transferred the blog to the new username account.

I got the email saying that everything was transferred but the only thing I see is that the posts transferred (and yes I did click that I wanted EVERYTHING transferred). The them did not transfer and as far as I can tell the name did not transfer either. I still cannot use the name (it tells me that the name is already in use) and when I look at the original account the name appears to still be there.

I’m very confused and now I have 2 accounts that make no sense LOL!

Not to worry. I flagged this thread for Staff attention and they will help you sort this.

Specifically, which blog URL do you want to be owned by which username?

I would like for the blog “OnTheOtherSideOf40” to be associated with the account that I set up with the email address of (email visible only to moderators and staff). I believe the url is http://jdm5583.wordpress.com.

I originally set “OnTheOtherSideOf40” up under the account associated with the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff). I transferred it to the jdm5583 account today and received an email saying that it had been transferred.

    Thank you for your help!

    Jena

Ok, in order to do that, please follow this guide to transfer ownership to jdm5583: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

I can also transfer it for you, but I need to see the request from the user who owns that blog.

Thank you – I think that worked.

But now on my blog there is a list of “blogs followed” ~ but when I go into the dashboard to try to remove the blogs it says that I’m not following any blogs.

I do not want those blogs listed on my blog. These blogs were blogs I followed with my old blog (the first account (email visible only to moderators and staff))…..they do not pertain to this blog.

    Thank you for your help!

You can delete the widget from Appearance -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard.
