I want to increase traffic to my blog
-
On the web when you look for top blogs – ie brit blog ect they ask you to put their icon on your site in this way i presume you could rise up the ranking. how do you insert their link on to your site ?

You have a list of links already on your blog. You add them in the same way. Dashboard -> Blogroll -> Add links

You may or not be able to put their icon on the blog, though. Some are javascript based, like MyBlogLogs, and those won’t work at WordPress for security reasons. But you can add a normal link, or even an image which is also a link, it just takes a little fiddling.

Try emailing similiar blogs as to yours for a link exchange so you can get traffic from their site and hopefully one day the Gods will smile on you if a top blog links back to you on a post. And this might help too:

That’s kind of looked down upon actually…

By who? That’s what I did when starting out and I get requests to add others every week. How else are newbie blogs suppose to get any recognition? Unless it’s different with entertainment sites than others.

I think that it used to be standard, but things have moved on since most blogs started allowing comments (which they didn’t always) so now people tend to blogroll those whose comments they like or they follow the commenter’s link back to their site and if they like it, they link it.
One thing I have seen is clearly-stated blogroll policies, like Eteraz.org and iaindale.blogspot.com. If your policy is to link to those who link to you, just put that in a sidebar widget and ask that they let you know they’ve blogrolled you. That should work pretty well.
