I want to keep my domain name

  I am trying to map my sight from another host and it looks like WordPress will be adding to my web address, which I don’t want. How do I keep my old domain the same?

  You need a site here with a WordPress.com subdomain to map your domain to and then it is your domain that appears in browsers. But if you ever let your custom domain lapse then the content of your site would still exist at the WordPress.com subdomain.
