I want to make a resume/cv website with a custom domain.

I’ve already purchased a domain. What can I do now since WordPress doesn’t have any cv templates or doesn’t allow for me to write any of the code for the site. I simply want a splash page with my picture, a quick bio and some highlights of my resume. Can I simply take my domain name to another service?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I believe what you are looking for is a custom menu and static pages like a Home page, Bio page and Resume Page.

In order to do this you can create a Home Page by going to Pages > Add new in your Dashboard. This is a static page that would be the page your readers view the minute they visit your site. After you published that, create all the other pages you need.

Then go to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard. At the top where it says Front Page displays: select a static page and set the the Home page you just created as your Front Page, and the Blog or Posts page as your Posts page. If you don’t want a Posts page, you can leave that blank.

Finally, create a Custom Menu by going to Appearance > Menus in your Dashboard. You can then add all the other pages to your menu. Please view the link for further instructions.

If this is not what you want, you can keep it registered with us and just point the nameservers to your new host with these steps:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

Just note that this means your domain is still registered through us and just hosting elsewhere. So you would need to keep the registration renewed yearly with us in addition to your new host. After 60 days from the date of registration you can transfer out your domain elsewhere (there is a lock placed on newly registered domains as per ICANN rules). When that time comes, the guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar

Let me know if you have any questions with this!
