I want to move from new blogger but I don’t want to lose the template

I want to move my blog to wordpress from new blogger but I don’t want to lose the qualities of my template. Is there some way or where I can go to see an example of what happens when a blog is moved from new blogger to wordpress.

Can you tell us what you mean by “qualities” of your template?

The only thing that comes over is the posts and the comments if they’re in blogger and not holoscan. Why not set up a test blog with a dummy name (ie rhbeetest) and try it there?

Many bloggers have imported their blogs from Blogger to wordpress. If you use the forum search box you can find some of them. However, the themes we use here on free accounts, without the css upgrade, are limited to those found here -> Presentation -> Themes.

Import from Blogger / Typepad / MT / LJ

depends what you mean. If your talking about the them template, your pretty much done for. WP has their own themes and you can not upload or alter them (beyond the CSS).

If you mean content wise, again its difficult. Set up your blog, and then from the dashboard look at import. On the list look and see if your current provider is listed, and if it is, what it can import.

So I don’t get it. If I can’t move the template, how do I look at the templates wordpress has so I can decide that way? The comment above indicated a location for this but it appears that if I don’t have a wordpress blog I can’t get to the address.

Like drmike suggested, set up a test blog for yourself and make it private and non-indexed.

I have one like that for my own personal ranting, but I use it to test new wp.com features and themes as well.

Just be sure not to use a name you ultimately want on a real blog. You can’t re-use names once you’ve deleted the blog, ever.
