I want to move my newly designed website over to my preferred hosting company.

    Hi,
    I finally have a website design that I am reasonably happy with. Now, I want to move this new site over to dreamhost.com, who host several websites for me and, to be fair, have been extremely helpful & supportive over the last 15 years I have used them ( I am in no way ‘computer savvie’ and barely manage to get by.

    Can anyone explain how I complete this transfer?

    Hi there,

    If you’re speaking of https://nesiscouk.wordpress.com/, you can export the content of that site at My Site ->Tools ->Export. That will give you a file containing your posts and pages, and links to your image files in the media library, that you can import using the WordPress importer plugin on the new site.

    It is not possible to migrate an entire WordPress.com site to another host, so your site’s theme and layout won’t be transferred. You’ll need to set that up from scratch on the new site, after installing the theme you want to use on that end.

    Note that support for the version of WordPress you’ll be using over at Dreamhost is provided by the WordPress.org community in the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
