I want to permanently remove a media file link.

  Permanently removing a media file link. We shared a pdf through our site, and would like to remove it now. I selected the ‘permanently delete’ option through the media library, but the link is still active.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Could you post a link to the post or page that this link is on please?

  Also, is the file still downloadable or is the link there but the file is not downloadable?

  Hi there,
  Deleting a file from your media library doesn’t immediately remove it from WordPress.com ‘s servers.

  What is the URL of the deleted pdf file please?

  Staff can do this for you. I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

  Yep I know who you are or guessed (You are a WordPress Veteran after all), I try to use whatever username people are using, and I meant no offense by giving encouragement to you/I did not say that you needed it; that is just something I do sometimes, trying to be nice is a bad habit of mine so I apologize, you are welcome. ;)

  @qualellc – Via a previous forum question on this, Staff have replied that even once you’ve deleted a media file, it still takes about 3 days for the entire WP cache to be emptied, so if someone has the direct link, it may still be possible to access the file.

  If this is a critical issue, please let us know so that we can notify Staff.
