i want to post artful nudes on my blog will it be marked as mature?
-
I just reported my other blog as mature maturepractice because it has links to some websites that have artful nude photography some of it might be considered soft core porn, and some of the sites may have other pages on them that have even more graphic ponography. but it is all still art, it just isn’t always appreciated as art in the eyes of the majority.
I made a seperate blog because a main preface of my other blog, patrickspractice.wordpress.com is art. A lot of the art i like is considered “mature” at times the art contains nudity and or erotic situations. I want to be able to link to websites that contain artistic erotic photography, some of which are linked too on this blog already. I am curious as to what i can post on my main blog without getting labeled as mature. I am working on a comic book in which the heroine works in a strip/burlesque club as part of her secret identity, some of the pannels will contain nudity, can i post these on my main blog as long as their is a warring before they are posted? for example can i post a post with some pages from my comic bok and then say, after the jump you can see more but the panels contain nudity and some eroticism? Can i post drawing of nudes from my figure drawing class in my gallery section? I don’t know where the line is suposed to be drawn. I would really appreciate knowing what is pornographic or too pornographic for a normal word press blog. I am hoping to use my blog as a way to publicize myself, sell my artwork, show previews of my comic book I plan on self publishing etc.
I chose to use wordpress because I have a friend who is a profesional bloger and i respect his opinion, he makes a living of his blog, i wouldn’t mind doing the same. I plan on purchasing several upgrades and getting my own domain name, and giving back to the community by publishing my own themes and maybe even making some widgets. But it frustrates me a great deal that once I have to use two blogs. is it okay for me to post artful nudes, including photos? what about excluding photos? can i post links as long as i make it obvious that the subject matter is addult content?
my email is [removed – Mark] I would really apreciate some feed back before i spend my money hosting my blog(s) and upgrading to edit my own css etc.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I would suggest waiting till staff gets back on the 19th, and then use the support contact form to message them. Give them a link to some of the stuff you want to post, and they can then tell you whether they think it should be marked as mature or not. They are very open minded about things of this nature, so they will not jump to conclusions.
OMG!!!!! I see a nipple!!!! Quick, call Homeland Security!!!! You won’t see any of that.
-
And give them some worse case examples along with normal stuff so that they have a good overview.
-
Also: unless you’re getting paid for hosting links, they don’t particularly care what websites you link to. That’s not their responsibility to patrol. I’ve linked to 4chan and god knows what’s in there sometimes.

4chan is weird :)
patrickspractice – as thesacredpath has suggested make a few posts then you can use the form in the admin bar to ‘Report as Mature’ your own blog. This does nothing at all on it’s own. It just means you are sending the enquiry to the right person.

i reported the blog that i do plan on posting the more mature stuff on already. I am hoping that will only have to be used for photos, and really only the more erotic photos. I am really hoping that I can post up comic pages as they are in progress, so once i have a finished published product i can show what stages it went through. My comic is definitely for a more mature audience though the main character/super heroine is a burlesque dancer at a club where many of the super villains and their lackeys frequent because it is owned by one of the seedier characters in the book so their will be lots of suggestive poses and exposed bodies but all that will just be drawn and eventually colored but i hope that i’m still able to put it on my main blog. I just want to make sure before I pay to upgrade so I can write and edit my own CSS, as well as buy some web hosting and a domain name.
what is the difference between domain registration and mapping? and do i need both?
-
Domain registration is just buying the URL and not attaching it to anything. You can buy it from anywhere, but WP.com is cheap and reliable. Mapping you need to buy from WP.com or you can’t attach a domain to the blog. It’s cheaper to buy them as a package from WordPress.com.
You don’t need web hosting if you’re being hosted here. If you’re not going to be hosted here, you don’t need to buy any upgrades to your blog here.
-
Domain registration is registering the name, it then is just parked usually by the registrar until it is mapped to a real web site.
Domain mapping is mapping or setting up your web site so that it works with the registration.
Yes you need both unless you want to just park the name somewhere. With the mapping a viewer can just type in your-new-domain.com and end up on your WordPress.COM site with it looking like a regular web site without the .wordpress.com in the address.
