I want to reactivate my old wordpress.com account but I can’t
-
The only reason I started this new account (as ‘replacementality’) is in order to make contact with the customer-service staff. I don’t want a new account – I want to re-open my old one (‘unemployedandangry’).
My problem is this:
In the years since I was last using wordpress regularly, my e-mail provider has changed its name, and changed all its addresses – consequently I was unable to get a replacement password from wordpress. Also, I don’t believe I was ever given a ‘project activation key’, because I signed up to wordpress in about 2010 or thereabouts. (If I had one, it’s long lost).
I have already contacted what I thought was the wordpress helpdesk, but they refused to help and denied all responsibility because they were wordpress-org not wordpress-com. If there is a wordpress-com helpdesk I have yet to find it!
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hey there, you have indeed reached the forums for the free sites we host. You would need some kind of proof of ownership to regain access to the site. Any of these options would work, and you can use the form there or email
passwordhelp@wordpress.com.If you don’t have proof of ownership, and you don’t have any way to regain access to the email address, your best bet may be trying to find the login and password, or starting a new site. Best wishes!

Supernovia doesn’t seem to have read my message.
I don’t have any e-mails from as long ago as 2010-2011. Most people in the world will not! Ultimately the problem is that you (wordpress) can’t, or rather won’t, adjust to the fact that easy.com is now easyemail.org, and their user addresses have changed accordingly.

Hello there,
Ultimately the problem is that you (wordpress) can’t, or rather won’t, adjust to the fact that easy.com is now easyemail.org, and their user addresses have changed accordingly.
I know these instances are frustrating and can cause issues.
It’s not a case that we choose to not recognise that change, it’s case that we can’t for security and privacy purposes. To explain, easy.com is completely different domain to easyemail.org – including the suffixes. Therefore, there’s no way of telling one from the view of a third party.
For this domain/email address change – the onus of responsibility is actually on the email hosting provider to forward from one address (domain) to a new address (domain), if they’re the ones making this change for you – as so to avoid the very issue you’re facing now, not just with WordPress.com, but other services.
I would advise you to go back to the email provider and get them to see if such a solution is possible, as this will help to recover the WordPress.com account.
I’m hoping the steps above prove useful.
