I want to register AND change the name of my blog
-
Hi — I want to register my blog to my own domain (drop the wordpress.com part), but I don’t want to just register it “as is” – I want to change the first part, as well. Can this be done in one step? I see where I can register the name I have and where I can register a NEW domain, but it looks like I’ll have to either transfer or link them somehow, if I go the new domain route. Is there a way I can just give the blog I have a new domain name? Does this question even make sense? :) Thanks for any advice you may have for me! Kim

Hi Kim. If you decide to buy the domain mapping upgrade, your domain name basically replaces the __.wordpress.com portion of your address. More info here:

Your blog remains hosted by WordPress.com.If that doesn’t answer your question, would you please clarify? Especially the “change the first part as well” part?

I no longer want my address to be “kiminsanford”. I found where I can buy the domain and just replace the “.wordpress.com” part. But, I’d like to buy the domain and change the “kiminsanford” to “kimsthoughts” or something like that. Is that possible?
Thanks for your advice,

I’m sorry – I’m not explaining it well. But, as it turns out, I think I found the fix myself. thank you so much for attempting to help me.
