I want to set up a website not a blog and keeps saying blog?

  I do not want a blog I want a website and every time I try to create this it keeps talking about a blog? I have managed a wordpress website before with graphic design help and it looks like the menu that comes up but still says blog???? Do I need a domain hosting name or something or am I signing into the wrong site. This is urgent please help

  Please start by reading this comparison that I will link to at the end of this paragaraph. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   Every day we get new people here at WordPress.COM who do not understand that a blog is a website posting here. This is all semantics and blog structure.

  A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.

  What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

  A self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database.

  If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and consult with WordPress.ORG bloggers.
