  I’d like to stop writing, and hide the blog from people seeing it. can you help please?

  Hi there,

  The best way to do this would be to set your site to private as explained here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/#site-visibility-options

  That will restrict your site to only visitors you choose (so none unless you specify them). Would that work?
