I want to temporarily prevent my followers being sent an email from me

I want to temporarily disable the email sending facility. I am going to experiment with some page layouts and want to put up some sample posts without my followers being sent email notifications, is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The best way to do the kinds of experiments you are describing is to add a test site to your account and do your experiments there. Here’s how you add a new site to your existing account

Here’s an article about the other benefits of having a test blog

Let me know if you get stuck or have questions. I’m happy to help.

Many thanks for your response. I have set up a test site but can not find the answer to my problem. I want to have a blog divided in to three categories. Each one will have a theme and each will have new blogs added to it, no one category will be more important than the others.

I imagine this to look like a front screen with four tabs – About (me), Catgory 1, category 2 & category 3. When the viewer clicks on each category tab they will be able to see a series of blogs relating to that category. Is this possible?

    Many thanks

What you want to do is possible. The “hard” part it how to get posts from each category to appear on a page by themselves. You can achieve that by creating category pages. Here’s how those work.

As for the tabs on your front page, that is also possible. The easiest thing is to create a custom menu that includes links to each of your categories. Here’s how that works

    Menus

There are also other options. If instead of having a links to the categories in the menu, you’d like to have images on the front page that users can click to go to each of the category pages, that is also possible. The “how” of that depends on your theme and your vision for how it would work. If you want to try something like this, tell me more about what you’d like it to look like and if you are open to working with another theme, and I’ll help you figure out the best way forward.

Firstly, thanks so much for your help, I am surprised by the level of assistance you offer. Your response is what I need but for some reason, I just can not get it to be how I want it. If you look at my blog, under the red logo with the white line going through it, I want four tabs. One to give a contact page, one for published articles, one for a series I am writing called “being an instructor” and one for general blog stuff. For some reason I can only get a maximum of two tabs up at a time, is it possible to work out where I am going wrong?
I am trying and am close but just can’t get the final bit.

I’m happy to help. the problem is you’ve created a separate menu for each item you want to show, but what you need to do is create one menu and then add the pages to the menu. When you click “create new menu”, call the menu “primary menu” so you won’t confuse it with the others. Then once the menu exists you add the menu items–which will be the four tabs.

If you let me know which tool you are using to create your menu (one with a grey background or one with a blue background) I can give you more specific instructions.

    Thanks again

I find the screen with the blue background easiest to use. If you can send me the specific instructions then it would be very much appreciated.

Happy to help. It looks like you know how to create a new menu. Do that one more time and call the menu “main menu.”

The instructions here explain how to add pages and categories to the menu.

    Menus

Remember some of your tabs will be pages and some are categories, so you’ll have to be sure you are choosing from the right list when you add the tabs.

If you get stuck again on adding the third item, let me know what happens when you click the + button on the bottom existing menu item.

OK, I’m not sure I know exactly how but I have ended up with what I wanted to achieve. I am very impressed with your patience and grateful for your time and efforts.

Many thanks for helping me, it is really appreciated
