Stores–>Domains–>Cancel Private WHOIS did not work for me, screen said to contact support.

Please cancel private registration for me so I can move my site to WordPress.org.

Nevermind–I had to renew my domain soon anyway and after that, I was able to cancel the private registration. Thanks anyway.

I’m having the same issue as others in this string of posts. There is no explanation how to do disable privacy. I want to transfer the registrar and do not see anything on how to “Unsubscribe Private Registration.”

That domain actually expired on February 5.

I checked with GoDaddy and they said that the domain does not expires until next year. They are not able to troubleshoot the issue with me because I do not have the contact info used to setup the account with GoDaddy. I filled out the papper work to claim the domain, but WordPress made the information private for us and that makes it impossible for them to verify that the account actually belongs to me.
Could thee be an issue on WordPress.com’s side? Is there anything you can do or suggest that could get my site back up. I am worried that this is affecting my business.

The domain expired from your ownership on February 5. It has since been purchased by someone else.

I’m also looking to unsubscribe from private domain registratin. I wrote to wordpress support two days ago and haven’t gotten a response. My domain expires tomorrow. I want to move it, but it seems like I’m being forced to renew at wordpress by virtue of the lack of response.

I have removed private registration from your domain.

Everyone else, you should be able to disable your own private registration via Store -> Domains in the blog’s Dashboard. Please try this before contacting us.

Do you know what will happen if the domain transfer (which takes 5-7 business days) isn’t complete by the time the domain expires on the WordPress side (which is in less than a day)?

I have never encountered that before myself, but you do have a grace period of about 10 days to renew the domain after it expires.
