I want to use my Godaddy domain
-
Hi there,
I’ve recently purchased the starter plan with WordPress, and I chose to add my domain from Godaddy.
Wordpress immediately prompted for me to start setting up my site, but used its own domain instead of the one I had registered.
I wish to use my domain and not this one. Can we please amend this? Not sure why it’d request if I had a domain already, and then proceed the create a site using its own.
Please assist.
Sincerely,

@joshbrouard, welcome to WordPress.com!
Here’s a quick overview: WordPress.com functions as a large multisite, where each site has its unique WordPress.com subdomain. This subdomain is utilized for backend elements such as website content and media, and it also serves as the front-end URL for free sites.
Now that you’ve upgraded to one of our paid plans to use your own domain, your domain can become the primary front-end URL for visitors by choosing your domain to be the primary domain in your site’s domain settings. However, the backend administrative pages will continue to use the original subdomain. I hope that makes sense!
