I was late renewing my domain. How do I get it back?

    I was late renewing my domain and it appears to now be defunct. How do I get it back up and running?

    Your domain may be in its redemption period:

    After the grace period ends, your domain enters the redemption period, the length of which can vary. This means the domain name can still be renewed, but there is an $80.00 redemption fee required in addition to the normal renewal cost. (This is standard practice for domain registrars.)

    It’s important to note that during the redemption phase, domains can be included in expired-domain auctions, where another party can bid on your domain name. If the domain is claimed by someone else in an auction, you will not be able to renew. If you made a payment in attempt to reclaim the domain out of redemption and were unsuccessful, you will get a refund.

    I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore 9inequestions.com to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain.

    Hi @9questions,

    The domain 9inequestions.com was actually only mapped at WordPress.com.

    Its registration is with someone else, i.e., you had purchased it from somewhere else and you’d need to contact those folks to renew registration of the domain (if the registration is about to expire).

    Mapping is for domains registered outside of WordPress.com, so if only your mapping had expired, the domain should be functional again.
