I will eventually run out of disk space, then what?
-
Okay, the free space disk is 3 GB for multimedia file storage, that’s cool, did the math (quickly, actually, I’m lazy haha) and I probably have enough for 500 to 1000 posts with a good load of images it them.
My question is, I’m not rich and even if I were to buy upgrades, the space will always be limited to a certain amount of GB… what will happen once I reach the 100% disk space usage on my wordpress.com blog? Can I then hotlink images from imageshack, tinypic or any other free service?

I don’t know what you mean by “limited”. I have been here for over 7 years and I am currently using 128.9 MB out of 3.0 GB upload limit (4%). All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. That’s HUGE! http://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/
Yes you can hotlink to images on image hosting sites right now but the best choice by far is to upload your images onto WordPress.com servers.

If you optomize the pictures down to around 200K each – (which is a high quality for the web picture) – that is around 15,000 pictures
One of the first photo sites I did I just uploaded the raw pictures from that camera, not much sorting – 3Mb file size and ran through much of the allocation before I woke up and started sorting things etc.

Good advice.@luiskozmico
Preparing and resizing your images before uploading them means you will get better image q1uality, and not be wasting your space for media, and you won’t experience any problems so you won’t end up troubleshooting images.

Well I use Photoshop to sort all my article images, optimized for JPG and quality lowered to 70%, my fear is that it will eventually run off. I will publish a lot of collections with loads of images), so one of these years I will need more space.
But now I’m less worried, 3 GB is indeed huge space! Thank you both.
