I wish to add my gmail email address to a customised domain on wordpress

  Hi, I have already managed to map my domain name that I bought from GoDaddy to my wordpress one and this customised one is now my primary. I am now trying to tie my personal gmail email address to this custom domain (as above). I want people to be able to email me directly from my website. I found a tab for email forwarding, which would make sense but this message comes up:

  “This domain currently has custom mail servers defined in its DNS settings. This means that WordPress.com Email Forwarding is not available for this domain, and that you should manage your email with your email provider.”

  I know I have a custom domain but before signing up to wordpress it said quite clearly that I could both have a custom email AND have my existing email account attached to it. So how do I do that, please??? I have been at it for hours, more like half a day and I feel like smashing something…

  This likely means that there are custom MX entries in your DNS.

  Head over to https://wordpress.com/my-domains and click the Edit button next to your domain.

  From the left, click Edit DNS. You should see all the DNS records for your domain. I recommend take a screenshot of this page and/or backup this page (select all using your cursor, copy, paste it in a notepad, and save the file on your computer) before moving on to the next step.

  When backed up, delete all the MX entries. You should see a tiny trash icon to the far left when hovering over the MX entries. When all MX entries are deleted, click Save Changes. Try Email Forwarding now (or wait a few minute, perhaps 20/30 minutes as DNS update may take a while. It should work now.

  I see that you added MX records to your domain. Do you still need help with this? If you do, please provide me the exact custom records your email host needs you to add and I can add them for you.
