I wish to re-download all my media files to my computer
-
Hi,
My computer recently crashed and I lost all my files. I was hoping there was a way to re-download all the media files I have on my WordPress site to my computer. It won’t give me back all my files, but it would be a great start.
Do you know if there is an easy way to do this? I don’t want to have to click through more than 4,000 images to do this. Thanks so much,

Hello there,
Sorry to hear about your crash. That stinks.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to bulk download images.
If you are looking for a backup of your site/media, you can run an export of your site:
Your media files will exist as attachment links that can be uploaded to another site. However, they won’t be downloaded as individual image/sound/video files.
One “trick” to get around this is to create a WordPress.org site on your computer or outside server. Then, you can import the WordPress.com XML file. This will pull the media attachments from your WordPress.com site into your WordPress.org site. Since you will have access to the backend of your WordPress.org site, you will have immediate access to all your individual media files.
If you’d like to research WordPress.org sites, and check out if this option is viable for you, you can look at the support page here:

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!
