I would like for there to be a formatting tool bar in the editing part of blocks
-
Hi.
Just like this forum has a formatting tool bar, I would like the website editing interface to have one.
My device doesn’t come with the build in feature of editing options popping up when text is selected. I am trying to embed a link into a page. If there is a formatting tool bar, I will be able to create links, as there will be an option for that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, the easiest way to create links in the editor is to copy the link from another tab, go back to the editor, select the word you want to link, then paste. It won’t work in the forums, but it will work in the editor.
That said, you should have an editing bar either just above the text you’re editing, or at the top of the screen. If you don’t see that, can you get a screenshot of what you’re seeing? We’d be happy to take a look.
Here’s how to make a screenshot; more context is better so try not to crop it too tight:

Then update us here.

My device has very limmited capabilities. The only options when words are selected are copy, paste, and cut.

I can’t share too much device info over this thread, but I am using an android tablet, and the latest version of chrome.

Hi there,
If you’re on a tablet, then it’s best to use our mobile app. You can download it here:
Also, to better help us troubleshoot your issue we’ll need more information than that you shared.

I am using a screen reader, and I already have accessibility issues with the mobile application. Even though I can’t use the website to embed links into a website, I find it harder to use the mobile application.

Hi there,
Understood. Would you be able to take a screenshot of what you see in the editor on a browser and upload that screenshot to your media library at https://wordpress.com/media? This will let us understand the issue better.
Also, are you running the latest versions of the browser on your Android tablet?

If I were to add a screen shot to my media library, then it would appear in my website. I don’t really want that on my website.
-
A screenshot doesn’t appear in your website unless you put the image in a page or post, or share the URL.
-
If you prefer, you can use an online tool, such as https://snipboard.io/, and paste the link into your reply.

I can’t share aany sensative information. The forum has a tool bar to embed links in replies, but my site doesn’t have the toolbar.
I am unable to take a screen shot. If I do, it is a file and not a url. Screen shots aren’t urls.

If you take a screenshot, and put it in the media library, it will not automatically appear on the site. You would have to add it to a post or page.
But staff can access the media library. So you would create the file, upload it here: https://wordpress.com/media — and then update us here.
Or, if you don’t want to put it in the media library, you could upload it at snipboard.io. I’m not sure how accessible the site is, but essentially you would upload it there, then send us a link to your upload.
Either option is fine.
