I set up a WordPress account and used grasoncrabtreevo.com as my domain name, found it to be very confusing and not user friendly so I deleted everything and refunded and would like my domain back on google domains it says I can not registered it can not be used

I was looking through the forums and I found something about waiting about 5 days is that something I could do? I just want the domain back

  • Hi there, the WordPress.com account you’re currently posting from (username: gcrabtree03) doesn’t appear to be associated with any current or deleted domain names; this means we’re not directly able to help you with this query via this forum thread.

If you had registered the domain using a different email address then we do definitely recommend contacting us from the email address to which all your WordPress.com receipts were sent so we can better help you with this!

I closed that account cause I thought it was the only way to get my domain back cause cause it said it would delete everything, the email I used was (email visible only to moderators and staff)

I mean if i could just wait the 5ish days then thats fine, do I need to do anything to start that process on my end or just wait for it to expire

  • Hi there,

I mean if i could just wait the 5ish days then thats fine

If you wish you can recover your account (that was closed) and that would allow us to recover the domain immediately. However, since this was a new registration, if you do nothing the domain will be returned to public sale approximately 5 days after it was cancelled. This happens automatically.

Looks like you closed the account on 11/30 so the domain should be available (from any company that sells domains to the public) around Dec. 5th. If you wish you can search for your domain (with a different provider) after that time and you should see it as available. Timing is approximate, so it could be the case that you will not see it until the 6th or later.

If you do not wish to wait that long, and prefer to try and recover the domain now, you can regain access to your old account by filling out the form here:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

And just to make sure If I sign in again and get my domain back that way it wouldn’t be tied to WordPress at all yeah? I honestly don’t really know how this works I just didn’t like WordPress at all and don’t want to use it

  • Hey there,

And just to make sure If I sign in again and get my domain back that way it wouldn’t be tied to WordPress at all yeah?

If a domain is restored, by default it will be pointing toward WordPress.com by default.

Are you looking to use another platform? If yes, this can be done using custom DNS setting by pointing the domain to that platform.

Out of curiosity, what are you looking to build and what did you find difficult? We’ll love the opportunity to try and turn that experience around.
