  Hi Ann,

  WordPress.com does not offer the option to install third-party plugins. If you would like more control over plugins and the option to install your own, a WordPress.org setup would be the best solution for you.

  Please note that your followers will receive post notifications via email (they can set it up to Instant, Daily, or Weekly – this would be up to them). You can add a Follow Blog widget to your site so that readers can sign up to receive these notifications.
