I would like to cancel my domain

    I have had a paid domain for 2 years and I do not want it anymore. I have tried contacting support but I get put into a loop where it says “contact support” to cancel domain and the link is right back to the question page where I started. I am going in circles trying to figure this out.
    If someone can help me out and cancel my domain and payments, that would be greatly appreciated.

    I assume you mean http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-domain/

    Provided you are logged in under the same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrade, you can cancel from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and you can also disable auto-renew there.

    Be aware that Canceling a domain at this time means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation. Alternatively, you can have Staff remove the domain mapping, retain the domain URL and point the nameservers to another site. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

    Ok, thank you. So just to clairfy, if I click on diable auto-renew, that doesn’t mean the wordpress will just bill me?

    I don’t mind that the domain will be gone and not mine anymore, and I don’t need the content moved anywhere. I just want to stop paying for it when I never use it.

    Hi there,

    Sorry for the trouble you had with this! I can cancel your domain for you, if you don’t want it anymore. Would you like to cancel it now or do you want to keep using it until it expires?

    Since auto renew is disabled, if you don’t do anything the domain will expire on February 19, 2015, and you won’t be charged to renew it. If you’d like, I can cancel the domain now so you don’t need to worry about it. If you want to keep using it until it expires, you can contact us if you’d like help canceling it later on.

    Just let me know if I can do anything more to help at this point. :)
