I would like to eliminate the comments box along w/the likes & shares.
-
I have gone into the individual pgs – and into Screen options and unchecked the box on comments – but it still appears! Also, if I go back into pg/post to do it again……..the check is back in the box again. I also would like to know if I can remove the Likes and Shares features from page/posts??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/Any existing posts or pages will need to have comments disabled manually via editing. You can use the bulk edit feature in the all posts and all pages screen to make that quicker.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

I’m glad you’ve told me that. Before submitting Q I’ve tried several times to go into individual pages and eliminate the existing comment boxes – but seem to be unsuccessful……….so this definitely means that I am not doing something right. I’ve just finished working on something else – and will try now. Thanks!

I am still having the same difficulty. I just went into a post called “Deep Tissue”…….I went into edit. I went up to Screen Options – both the likes & Shares box and the Comments Box were UNchecked already. I updated but the features still show on the page……….I have Portfolio theme.

Screen Options determine what you see on a particular dashboard screen, not what you see on your actual blog. You don’t disable commenting by unchecking “Discussion” in Screen Options, you do it by checking Discussion, to make the module show up so you can change the options inside it.
But you don’t need to do all this. See this post of mine, under “Faster way” and “Even faster”: -
I just got your message above…THANKS for info!! I do not have time now – but will check out a little later……and see what happens and let you know! I’ve been into “Discussion”………but not sure if I am unchecking or checking the correct options.

That was excellent help!!! Everything else I read said to go into Editor Post/Page……but with this theme – I never found anything (other than in Screen Options) that seemed like a Discussion module or that said “allow” – once I went into quick-edit……….there it was!! Thank You Thank You!! Now by any chance can you help me with eliminating shares & likes

I went investigating ways & possibilities………AND FOUND IT!! Under “Settings” “Sharing”………..so ignore above Q……….But if anyone can help I have one final one. I have 7 different photos in the featured slider. There is one in particular that I had wanted to be the first one that people saw when they clicked on the site (always that one first)…….is it possible to place an order that featured photos would show in slider……..or is it always just the most recent that ends up coming up first. If anyone can help with this would appreciate it. Again……Thanks for info on Comments
