I would like to eventually sell ad space on my blog

Hello, I have a question about the advertising on wordpress.com

I love wordpress and all the features, and it is my goal to eventually generate enough traffic to sell advertising space. I have my own domain name, and I will gladly become a premium member, but I would like the freedom to choose the advertisers on my site.

Is this possible with wordpress.com? From what I have read there are limitations to the 3rd party clients. I really like how easy wordpress.com is to use but I would like to eventually advertise on my site.

    Thank you,

    Gavin

Here is where you can find info about adverts acceptable on WordPress.com:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

note that you cannot use affiliate advertising on WordPress.com
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/

Having your own domain name does not mean that you are hosted somewhere else. It’s like a street sign pointing to your site. The sign points here and your readers do not see the “.wordpress.com” designation at the end of your URL, but you are still hosted here for free and subject to all the same restrictions.

If you want to get into posting adverts (besides WordAds) then you’ll need to check out self hosting (buy a domain name, pay a host to get online, and have software to make it all work):

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
