  I would like to get the domain I previously purchased back. I previously bought a domain, and it expired I was hoping that if I drop the domain I would be able to transfer it.

  It looks like the domain is now at Expiry Auction – more about this process can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#expiry-auction

  It may be possible to restore the domain, before we get to work, can you tell me if you were going to re-purchase another plan with WordPress.com?

  Also, to note, once the domain is restored, the domain would not be transferrable for 60 days as per of ICANN rules.

  It is possible to use the domain with another provider via Custom DNS settings: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/change-name-servers/
