I would like to make my site header text lighter
-
Hi:
I would like to make my site header text lighter than it is currently (I use the Ryu theme). I tried this:
.wf-active .site-title, .wf-active .site-title a {
font-weight: lighter, and while it changed when I entered the code (I saved the changes), when I refreshed my page the site title was still “normal,” not “lighter.” Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

Go back to Appearance > Customize > Fonts, and you can choose a lighter weight font from the dropdown to the right of the font size button (where it now says, “Regular”). There is a Light, Medium and Bold Weight in that font face.
If that makes the stroke on other headings too light, we can increase the font weight on those selectively.

Thanks for the quick response!
I went to “Fonts” on the Customizer and made the change, but now the other headings (my post headings) are too light for my liking. How can the font weight be changed on those?
Thanks again!

Hi, add the following to your custom CSS to adjust the font size and weight of your post titles. I adjusted the font size down to 90px from the 109px it was since increasing the font weight make the made the title to to 3 lines, and 3 lines that large seemed too much. You can adjust it as you desire. This change will also change the page titles as well.
.wf-active .entry-title { font-size: 90px; font-weight: 800; } -
I tried the above CSS and it worked in the preview, then I saved it and refreshed the page, but the post titles did not change.

It worked–thanks so much!
Is there any way to make the post headings slightly bolder (but not much more)?
If not, that’s fine. -
No, 800 is the maximum font weight in CSS. You might however add a text shadow to the post/page titles to give them more weight. Add the following declaration to the code I had give you above and see what you think.
text-shadow: 1px 1px 5px #000000; -
Nice effect; I’ll keep it in my back pocket–but I think I prefer the headings without it.
Thanks for all your help–it is much appreciated!

You are very welcome and your site is looking great. I love your font choice on the headers/titles. Very clean looking.
