I would like to move my domain/hosting from godaddy to wordpress
-
Hi all,
I was kind of duped into buying a godaddy hosting subscription, but I think it would make a lot more sense for everything to be in one place – WordPress. My blog is already built with wordpress through the godaddy/cpanel feature.
What would be the best way to go about transferring the hosting/domain to wordpress? I’m new to this and I’ve been reading articles on transferring domains but I am not sure they apply to my situation.
What’s important to me is that I keep all my content, subscribers, and domain name.
Thanks for your help!

Hi smgi94,
I’m writing under the supervision of staff here, but I believe your blog is currently hosted on WordPress.org (and not WordPress.com). You can find more information on the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.
If you wish to continue using WordPress.org, I would suggest you ask your question here: https://wordpress.org/support/.
If you would like to move over to WordPress.com, however, here is an article that shows you the process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/. You will then be able to manage everything on the WordPress.com admin interface. Note that you need an upgraded WordPress.com plan to have a custom domain nam (https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/).
In either case, all your content, subscribers and domain name will be kept. 🙂

Oh wow, you’re right! Sorry about that. WordPress.com sounds like the better choice, I really just want to focus on my content as much as possible. I’ll have a look at the instructions :)
