I would like to port three of my blogs into one. Can this be done without losing followers?
-
More of a question, than a problem.
I have 3 blogs up and running right now; all of them through WordPress.
I would like to purchase a Premium theme, and combine the 3 into one blog; on WordPress.
Is it possible to do this without losing followers?
Can all three be pointed to the same place? i.e. the domain I purchased through you and get hosted by you?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
I have 3 blogs up and running right now; all of them through WordPress.
I would like to purchase a Premium theme, and combine the 3 into one blog; on WordPress. Is it possible to do this without losing followers?First, you can export the content from two of your sites, and import the XML files into the main blog.
Exporting:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/Importing:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/When this is done, do not delete the two sites, but let me know when you’re ready and I can move the followers from these sites into the main site.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Okay, hi, there….
I’ve pulled the trigger and purchased a premium theme, and I would like to combine two blogs into one.
The two blogs are scottsloanphotography.wordpress.com, and colormyphotography.wordpress.com (which is now pointing to scottsloanphotography.com (no wordpress), a domain I already owned).
I have exported the SSP.wordpress into the CMP.wordpress, as the premium was purchased through the later.
The photos are showing up in the media library.
Yippee!
Now I need all the posts, followers, likes and what-not to come over as well…
THEN…
I purchased the Port theme, and would like to set up the one blog as a single project, and the other blog as another project, within the new site.
I’ve figured out how to create the projects, and how to get an image to show for them, but how do I get the project to point towards the blog posts?Any help would be greatly appreciated…

Hello there!
Nicely done — you’ve been busy!
I have exported the SSP.wordpress into the CMP.wordpress, as the premium was purchased through the later.
The photos are showing up in the media library.
Yippee!
Now I need all the posts, followers, likes and what-not to come over as well…Your posts should have moved over with the export and import. Could you please take a look at colormyphotography.wordpress.com and confirm that all the posts/pages from scottsloanphotography.wordpress.com moved?
If not when you ran your export, did you download ALL your content from the first site, before uploading it into the second site?
Regarding your Followers. If you give me permission, I can move them from scottsloanphotography.wordpress.com to colormyphotography.wordpress.com. This is permanent, so I need your confirmation before I take that action. Thanks!
Regarding Likes: Unfortunately, likes cannot be transferred from one site to another. Luckily, you’ll start gaining new likes soon enough on the combined site.
I purchased the Port theme, and would like to set up the one blog as a single project, and the other blog as another project, within the new site.
I’m afraid I’m not entirely clear what you’re hoping to accomplish here. Could you explain exactly how you want everything to behave?
Also, only one theme can be used on a single site. If you want two different looks/themes, they would have to exist on two separate WordPress.com sites.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hello. So, what I’m trying to accomplish is to have the one old site as a single project on the new site, and then the other old site as another, separate project on the new site. Sort of an archives situation, but with better visibility, as it were. A guy on the premium theme support site for this theme said there wasn’t a tool for that, but I’m really hoping to avoid having to cut and paste all the various posts into two separate projects. Clear as mud?
As to the transfer of followers, please go ahead. I’ve come too far to turn back now. How does this work? will they be sent an email? Or will they just turn up at the old site and be redirected? Will they even see the old site long enough to read a ‘moved to new location’ notice?
Questions, questions, questions…
Thanks for your help. -
Hey again!
So, what I’m trying to accomplish is to have the one old site as a single project on the new site, and then the other old site as another, separate project on the new site. Sort of an archives situation, but with better visibility, as it were.
My suggestion is to use categories. Take all the posts from one of the sites and assign them a category like, “Archive 1.” Except, you’ll give it a better name :) Then, assign all the posts from the other site a category like, “Archive 2.”
In the menu, you’ll add two tabs: Archive 1 and Archive 2. Then, your visitors can click each tab and see all the posts you’ve assigned to each given category.
Here is more information about Categories:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/And information about adding Categories to a custom menu:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/Finally, how Categories are displayed:
http://catswithmustaches.org/category-pages/As to the transfer of followers, please go ahead. I’ve come too far to turn back now. How does this work? will they be sent an email? Or will they just turn up at the old site and be redirected?
I will go ahead with that transfer ASAP and send you a confirmation when it’s complete.
The followers, when moved, will receive notifications of posts published to the new site. They will not receive an email saying they’ve been moved. If you’d like, once they have been moved, you can publish a post explaining what you’ve done. Then, the followers from both sites will see this message, and have the correct link to your site.
Thanks again! I’ll let you know when the transfer is finished. Best to you!

Hello again!
You’re all set. I’ve migrated your 75 followers from scottsloanphotography.wordpress.com to colormyphotography.wordpress.com.
It may take a bit of time for those followers to appear in your Site Stats, but they will show up soon.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Thank you so much for all the work.
I’d already chosen the category route as the better part of valor… or at least the quicker part of valor.
And lo! it shall be done.Again, thanks for all your help.
