I would like to renew an expired domain

  I am trying to renew lindsayroycroftphotography.com but am being forced to upgrade to premium. I do not want the premium option.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You have to select the Personal Plan first and then enter the URL. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.

  Allowing a domain to expire
  When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.

  If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.

  Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.

  If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

  If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account
