I need to connect my domain to shopify and in order to do that, I need your help. I need to edit my DNS setting. The instructions are as follows: point your A record to Shopify’s IP address, which is 23.227.38.32 Copy, and you CNAME record to point to shops.myshopify.com Copy. WordPress.COM is the to level domain here. All sites like yours are on .wordpress.com sub domains. Those instructions are for those who have a custom domain and you do not have one so you cannot point an A record. You need to see: Moving to self hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com

Thank you for answering my question….but I am still confused. I am trying to move out of wordpress….and shopify looked up where my domain is housed and it is with wordpress, so I think that I need wordpress to do something so that I can switch my domain over to shopify, right? The directions you shared with me is to move to another wordpress account, right?

There are two very different kinds of WordPress software. You need to move your content into a WordPress.ORG software install.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. ok…I can not manage my wordpress account because I did not renew it because I knew that I wanted to move to shopify. So now, I need help moving my website from wordpress to shopify. I think it is considered a transfer of my domain. I do not want to use wordpress anymore.

Staff need details to recover the domain.
1. What is the domain URL?
2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
4. When was the upgrade purchased?
5. When did the refund request and upgrade cancellation, or the domain expiration take place?

I am sorry, I don’t know what an URL is…..my domain is
oliviamariedesigns.com . According to my purchasing history, I purchased domain mapping on August 2015, so I am guessing that it expired in August of 2016. I am so sorry that I didn’t reach out sooner. Because my domain has expired, it is hard for me to make any changes without renewing and I am not interested in renewing because I want to move to shopify. I just want to transfer my domain to shopify and I don’t know what I am doing. I really would love to speak with someone to help me with this request. WordPress is great but I really need someone to talk me through a problem. PLEASE help me!!! …and thank you so much for all of your help and suggestions thus far! -

Hi there,
You don’t have any domains with us. You used to have oliviamariedesigns.com mapped to your WordPress.com site, but that domain mapping upgrade expired in September last year.
Your domain itself is registered with Tucows domains. If you want to use your domain with Shopify instead of with us, you need to contact Tucows so they can 1) point the domain’s name servers back to them, and 2) add the DNS records you need to point the domain to Shopify. We have no way to do either of that from our end, as we don’t have any access to your domain.
