I would like to update the ownership information on a domain I own
-
I purchased a domain through wordpress.com and built a blog for a friend. The information that I used to purchase this domain was my personal information, however it must be changed to the information of the individual who will be using the blog. How do I change the information to from my name to that of the individual in question?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Does this person has a WordPress.com account? because I see a member on that blog called ‘iwolfu’. If you want I can transfer the domain to that user. Or do you just want to change the WHOIS details the domain?
-
Actually yes that is who I intend to transfer to, but I want it to also update the WHOIS details. How am I able to do both? Thank you!

I’ve just moved the domain to ‘iwolfu’.
In order to change the domain details I had to remove the private registration upgrade. After following the steps below you can activate it again at https://rawrootscenter.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades . The $8 is added to iwolfu’s account to complete that process without having to pay again.
These are the steps in order to change the WHOIS information:
1: Go to https://rawrootscenter.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
2: Choose ‘Make Changes to DNS’ from the dropdown menu at the bottom of that page.
3: Create a new password and use that incombination with the Customer Number to login
4: Click on the “Manager Your Domains’ to login.
5: After logging in you’ll see you domain listed, click on it
6: Click on the ‘Contacts’ tab to change the contact details.
7: If you see a ‘Read only (Privacy enabled)’ error then try again later, the private domain upgrade cancellation isn’t fully propagated yet. -
Thank you for assisting with making iwolfu as the new owner. I am now following your WHOIS information instructions and I am stuck after step 3. I am unable to find “Manager your domains” or any similar login.

Hi Mel,
I understand, it can be a little confusing.
Step 3.5) Go back to the dropdown menu and select Make Changes to DNS. Underneath the Customer Number, you will find a link that says Manage Your Domains. Here’s a screenshot to make it a little easier to find: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0731jwdpe7
Then you can just pick up at step number 4.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Thank you! Having repeat the step of selecting “Make Changes to DNS” is what I needed. You both were so helpful, I really appreciate it!
-
I am not sure how to make these changes in the contact section/turn off the $8.00 privacy service I purchased that is now blocking me from making updates. Any help is appreciated. thank you!

Hi Mel,
You can now set your contact settings. The Privacy setting was left on in one place. I have turned that off for you. I also went into the domain manager to verify that you would be able to change the contact settings. In order to do so, I set a new password, so you are going to want to reset it back to your own.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
