i would like to upload a post with multimedia

    I am wanting to take part in the weekly writing challenge which includes text + image + other media. I have created a post but had to do it in powerpoint as I am no multimedia expert, far from it, I have no idea other that my usual text add image etc.
    How do I post a powerpoint slide to my blog?

    Hi there,

    That’s a neat idea for this writing challenge. :) There are a couple different options for embedding a PowerPoint presentation on your blog:

    1. You can upload the presentation to Microsoft SkyDrive and follow this guide for adding it to your blog: Microsoft Skydrive PowerPoint Web App

    2. You can upload the presentation to SlideShare and follow this guide for adding it to your blog: SlideShare Slideshows

    Hi

    Thanks for the directions. I have Skydrive but on clicking from File to Share there is no box saying Embed only one box saying Share to myself!

    What do I need to do to get the Embed option?

    To upload a YouTube video do I copy and paste the URL and paste it into
    a post in the text option of a New Post?

    Hi Janice, let me see if I can clarify that Skydrive question first:

    I have Skydrive but on clicking from File to Share there is no box saying Embed only one box saying Share to myself!
    What do I need to do to get the Embed option?

    You’ll see a Share button at the top of the screen (along with the File button). Don’t click that Share button — click the File button first: https://cloudup.com/cu4lywAWPab

    Then, in the menu that opens, click that Share button: https://cloudup.com/cLp2ulJEqBD

    On the next screen, you’ll see the embed button: https://cloudup.com/cBPt6viHOPA

    If you decide to post a video instead, you can embed a YouTube video just by copy and pasting the URL into the Visual editor of a new post. Make sure the URL is on a line by itself (without any other text or formatting.)

    Hi I’ve posted but sadly the youtube link I posted only appears
    on my blog as the http address as it is pasted in the visual editor and not the video itself when I have checked online.

    Hi Janice,

    For the YouTube embed to work, the URL that you paste into the editor can’t be hyperlinked, as mentioned here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#troubleshooting

    I just removed the hyperlink in that post for you, and now I see the YouTube video showing up there: http://medicinalmeadows.com/2013/12/13/time/
